AI and agents that give radiologists back their reporting time

In AQUILA+, more than 100 AI algorithms support the detection of findings and five agents carry out the operational tasks at every stage of the workflow. Interpretation and clinical responsibility always rest with the specialist.

How does AI work in radiology?

Clinical decision support

Deep learning algorithms and neural networks analyse X-ray, CT, MRI and other modalities. They flag findings for the specialist to confirm. The diagnostic decision is not automated.

AI, built into reporting

The algorithms flag findings on the study and the agents order the worklist. The specialist stays in control of the interpretation.

AI agents

Five agents in production today

Each agent carries out a different operational task in the workflow, and all of them are available only in AQUILA+, the cloud system. We document what each one does and its actual implementation status.

Appointment booking

Manages appointment scheduling. It reads the referral and the insurance authorisation, applies each institution’s own rules and books the appointment automatically. We project a 50% to 60% reduction in patient waiting times, and up to 80% less operational booking workload.

Smart worklist

Analyses clinical data and assigns urgency using a dynamic medical dictionary that continuously incorporates new terminology. Critical cases surface immediately, reducing variability and your institution’s medico-legal exposure.

Study assignment

Assesses each radiologist’s workload, reporting speed and pending cases in real time, and assigns the study to the right specialist with no manual intervention.

SLA compliance

Monitors every study in the reporting queue. When a study passes its SLA threshold, it triggers a visible alert in the list. Doctors and coordinators see the risk before it becomes a breach.

Virtual assistance

It’s the virtual radiology assistant developed by IMEXHS. It answers contextual medical queries, assesses report quality, supports image analysis and searches academic literature from within the reporting workspace. Draft report generation and study correlation are in development and not yet available.

Why integrate AI and agents?

More precision, more focus, better quality

Precision

The algorithms flag abnormalities with greater accuracy.

Time regained

The agents organise the workflow and reduce admin work between studies: report turnaround times drop and diagnostic productivity rises by up to 40%.

Focus on what’s critical

Radiologists spend their time on the cases that need it most.

Report quality

RV-Menthor assesses report quality before sign-off.

Benefits by area

Impact across the organisation

  1. Clinical Faster diagnoses, backed by better supporting information.
  2. Operational An organised workflow and shorter waiting times.
  3. IT Integration with PACS and RIS on open standards.
  4. Financial Better use of existing capacity.
  5. Administrative Full traceability and automated reports.

FAQs

About AI in the workflow

X-ray, CT, MRI and mammography.

No. It’s a support tool. Final interpretation and clinical responsibility rest with the specialist.

There are five today: Scheduling, Prioritisation, Distribution, Monitoring and RV-Menthor. Each one works at a different stage of the radiology workflow. We continue to develop new agents.

No. Each agent automates a specific task in the workflow, such as scheduling, prioritising, distributing or monitoring studies, so your team can spend its time on clinical decisions and patient care.
