Objective: to review the main brain tracts and their applications in neuroscience based on experience at the University Foundation for Health Sciences (FUCS), Bogotá D.C., Colombia. Materials and methods: bibliographic review and use of images with 1.5 T or 3 T resonators to describe the images of tractography in diseases of the central nervous system. Results: the main characteristics of the tractography based on cases of our institution are shown. Discussion: in the vast majority of brain pathologies there are no studies on the utility of tractography. Although it is a study Currently available, there is little information that is usually obtained at the clinical level, since the post-process takes a long time. of the images and in most centers the sequence of obtaining the reconstruction of each one of the tracts separately. Conclusions: it is possible to reconstruct the main brain tracts with 1.5 T and 3 T scanners, identifying the key pathways of the brain and their relationship with brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse and other conditions.
