The future of business: How AI can help you optimize your operation
In 1950 Alan Turing changed history with a simple question: “Can machines think? With the aim to answer this question Turing’s writes his masterpiece paper “Computing Machinery and Intelligence” (1950), and its subsequent Turing Test, established the fundamental goal and vision of artificial intelligence (2).
The answer to this question is not an easy one, especially because AI is an interdisciplinary science with multiple approaches, but advancements in machine learning and deep learning are creating a paradigm shift in virtually every sector of the tech industry.
What is artificial Intelligence?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a wide-ranging branch of computer science concerned with building smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence.
In today’s increasingly technological environment, AI solutions have risen to the top of the operational efficiency market. Brands that want to stay competitive would be well served to experiment with AI solutions to discover what will produce the best results.
The future of Business: How AI is driving benefits across organizations around the world
As technology continues advancing, the ability to apply AI to various aspects of the organization will advance with it. The ability to collect and process data is advancing rapidly, offering new opportunities to reshape the way businesses operate. By applying AI, organizations can find patterns and draw insights from data to make better decisions(3).
AI is already transforming how organizations do business, manage customer relationships and stimulate the ideas and creativity that fuel groundbreaking innovation (see Figure 1).
Great innovations for the radiology sector
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been wandering in radiology circles. Sometimes referred to as machine learning or deep learning, AI, many believe, can and will optimize radiologists’ workflows, facilitate quantitative radiology, and assist in discovering genomic markers (4).
IMEXHS is an innovative provider of medical imaging software and radiology services. Artificial intelligence (AI), another of the sectors in which the company is entering, could change some practices in radiology. It is clear that these advances, despite certain beliefs, do not imply the extinction of radiologists. “This is not going to replace specialists. What I believe is that it will create super radiologists, that it will empower them and make them more productive and precise”.
One of the main contributions of AI to the radiology industry is to make life easier for professionals, segregating between results within a normal range and those that, on the contrary, present some type of anomaly. Thus, professionals will be able to dedicate more time to the exams that deserve it, they will reduce the duration of the revisions and they will have the support of tools that reduce the probability of making mistakes. This is just one example of one of the artificial intelligence algorithm developments carried out by IMEXHS with the aim of improving the quality of life of doctors and radiologists around the world.
The potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology goes far beyond image analysis. AI can be used to optimize all steps of the radiology workflow by supporting a variety of nondiagnostic tasks, including order entry support, patient scheduling, resource allocation, and improving the radiologist’s workflow (5).
